Hi guys,
I recently started playing Guild Wars. I bought Nightfall, Prophecies and Factions and i'm a level 20 ranger/ritualist. I have one problem and that problem is money. I only got 4k, but i spend it at skills and now have 400 gold. I am trying to farm, but when i go on my own, i get killed by all the enemies. But when i use heroes/henchmen, i got almost no money. Can somebody please help me? I really need new gear and i can't afford it. Someone, please help me.

Sell your items too.

Also, a suggestion is to go along the storyline. you can make easy money just by doing that and it will take you to areas with better drops

if your getting destroyed, its likely your build (set of 8 skills) is wrong for the area. Soloing is known as farming, and is generally a build with either so much damage it can kill stuff before it hits them, or alot of skills stacked to reduce damage to low amounts.

If you want to find some farming builds used in soloing for gold, visit http://pvx.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page and click on farming to find some working builds, and where they work, for each profession.

Note that most builds will require specific gear and obviously, skillsets which may cost you a bit.

I suggest just completing the game normally, doing that should net you a tidy 30k+ at least, especially if you do nightfall campaign and sell inscriptions and weapon mods. This will be a double-helping, as you unlock 'hard mode' if you beat a end mission, which increases your drops.

Go kill just anything you can and farm Birthday Cupcakes - easy fast money.

After you have done what you need to do for base gameplay, you are a R/Rt so I recommend you go spirit spamming (google it)

Give it a couple tries practicing it's still pretty effective as a ranger.

Thanks for the comments. I was making some builds and asked my guild to rate them. They said that i had a pretty good build for groups, but don't have a change in solo. They suggested me to do more with my ritual-side and i guess i'm gonna do that. But first i'll complete the story mode (of Factions i guess) and then i hopefully have enough money for some decent gear.

I saw a quest with M.O.X. where i can get 10k, but i tried to defeat P.O.X. but failed hard. So i guess i have to train to get stronger and defeat it.

Oh, and i have 19 birthday cupcakes, but i can't sell them. :P

And i think i'm gonna go spirit spamming, diddn't think about that, but it's pretty clever. Thanks.

I also recommend creating a character or two just for farming. They're very boring characters, but if you create them from the beginning knowing what you want them to do, then it's very cost effective. You'll spend very little money on them(they will get the 8 or so skills you need), you don't need fancy 15k armor sets, and weapon/foci/shield will all be secondary. It'd be NICE to have that ultimate weapon with perf mods, but that inscription you find off a drop while leveling up thats 17% half cast rate really is acceptable compared to 20%.

I guess my example is that I have an elementalist for a main. Not the worst character for farming, but definitely not the best either. I've made a monk, assassin, and warrior as farming characters. Probably 10-15k goes into making each total(rough round estimate), and throughout the course of getting them to lvl 20 and the place they're going to farm, I easily get double that. After they're ready to go, though, they can rake in quite a bit of money.

Bottom line: farm characters are cheap, easy to remember why you made them, and will allow you to farm solo easily. Not every main class is the best for solo farming, but you don't need your main to get the money with account-wide storage

Additionally, you'll have a bunch of PvE lvl 20s lying around. Since respecing is easy, once you have enough money to get skills for a good group build, its as simple as upgrading your farming chars to full on PvE chars. Variety is the spice of life

Don't waste your gametime farming right from the start.
Simply explore the world, pick up all your loot, ID everything and sell everything except the really valuable stuff (if you ever bump into something) to the merchants.
That way, you'll start saving up on cash while progressing through the storyline, and enjoying the game.
Guild Wars gives you access to maximum stats on gear without blowing tons of gold. All the rest is just eye candy you can save up for later on. Just enjoy the storyline for now.

You cant sell the cupcakes to merchants / NPC. But you can trade them to other players. Currently they sell at 250-300 each.

At the beginning just follow the story line. That will give you some money. Also try to type /bonus and you might get some nice weapons (cant be sold, but good for heroes & self) and the help of the fire imp (depending what game version you bought).

Also in Nightfall you will get heroes. Configure them a bit and they wil be very powerful. seems you have MOX already.

Yea, play through the storyline and you should get enough cash for max armor by the time you reach it or just do a few quests around KC(there are a ton) to get the rest you need. Don't worry to much about farming and making money until you get better at the game and know what you are doing. Just play it get used to the mechanics and game style. Worry about pimping out your chars lately.

^This.

I struggled to have enough money when I first started playing since I didn't realize I could sell surplus materials to traders instead of the Merchant. Once I started checking prices instead of just selling to the Merchants, making money became less of an issue. Keep an eye on all of the traders for anything you're not going to use. Depending on the item, you can get quite a bit more than if you simply sold it to a regular Merchant.

Alright, thanks everyone. I'm gonna buy some ID kits and have a expert salvation kit with 90 uses left and pick up everytime that drops to sell. I'll get futher with the storyline, because when i look at the map, i see that i explored around 20% of Factions, so much to do.

My armor at the moment has 55 armor and the place where i am has 70 armor and that's better. But i found something usefull: collectors give these armor for free when you give them a certain drops, so i'm farming atm to get those items. Thank you all and i'm gonna play the game and get some money!

Another tip (but you can only do this once per account):

* Goto Great Temple of Balthazar
* Talk to High Priest Zhang and you should get 50 tournament points
* Then talk to Tolkano and trade those tournament points for zaishen keys (50 points = 10 zkeys)...

I think you easily can get 4.5-5k for each key by selling them to other players (that is probably the smartest thing to do; especially when you are low on cash)
